Last Post (from me!)

How do, long time no post! Both of my Iltis (Ilises, Ilti?) are long gone and along with my enthusiasm and spare time too!

Luckily for you I’ve been badgered for the log in details for the the site so someone else can take over, a bit of fresh blood, someone else to take the baton and carry on running.

May I introduce Peet, he’ll be along soon, breaking the site, making a mess of posting stuff you know, learning, I’m sure he’ll get the hang of it soon enough and you’ll have some fresh content to perv at in due course!

Whilst I’m here I’d just like to thank the people I met along the way, all the guys at Iltis Team Nordeifel who have been a great source of info to help me get my scrap pile up and running ( http://www.vw183.de ) Tobi at Iltisteile ( http://iltisteile.com/wb/ ) and Wagner Armee Fahrzeug ( http://www.wagner-armeefahrzeuge.de/ ) for the parts required to replace all the missing and broken bits on my Iltis.

I’ve not strayed too far, I’m still in the Bundeswehr Brotherhood, I’ve had a 1989 Ex-Bundeswehr T3 Double Cab Pick Up waiting in the wings for a year or two (actually, much longer! sshhh) and has recently made it to the road with a 2.0l Golf 3 GTI engine.

All The Best, it’s been fun 🙂

Little bit of tinkering

This little boot has annoyed me for ages, sat right in front of me looking tatty! Just fitted a new one, luckily still available new. Perfect time to replace those dodgy terminals on the wiper motor too.

Speedo Death

Posted November 24th, 2014 by admin

Oh no! no speedo!

Dead Speedo

It seems my speedo cable died, chewed itself up and while it did it got longer and the speedo end and managed to jam the drive end up. Quick twiddle with a screwdriver and a drop of light oil and it’s moving again, fresh speedo cable and away we go!

Switch panel added.

I have grown tired of the switch for my Eberspaecher heater flapping about without a home, I’m also bored of my memory stick falling out of the glove box.
I’m not a fan of drilling unnecessary holes in the bodywork for the next owner to get annoyed about so I’ve been looking for a bolt on solution for a little while, rather pleased with the result, it doesn’t look out of place and it can be removed by loosening the heater vents to leave no trace that it was ever fitted. Happy bunny! 🙂

Hi-Lift Jack mounted.

It’s been annoying me for a long time, rattling around in the back of the truck so I’ve made a bracket to bolt It down to the step on the back bumper and made another to fix to the antenna mount to steady it.

Set up quite nicely.

Not bad for a 33 year old!
